Learn these peeking techniques in Valorant for immediate rankups
There are different types of peeks which are there for specific purposes. All of them are to be used in specific scenarios and all of them has their advantages and disadvantages. In the upcoming sections I will tell you different types of peeks and when to use them and when not. Note that all these peeks need time to be practiced and used. Don't think that you will just see and apply all these in your first competitive game after reading this post.
Here are the different types of peeks starting from:
Wide Peek:
This type of peek is done when you enemy knows that you are there at the corner of the wall. Just move out quickly away from the wall keeping a distance from the wall. This is done because the crosshair of the enemy will be placed near to the wall. So main intention of this peek is to go across the crosshair of the enemy and get time to place your crosshair over the head of the enemy and tap it.
Its advantage is that you can get an easy kill of the enemy who is waiting for you to come out. And it also gives a thing which is called the peekers advantage i.e, the peeker has different positions and angles to be in but the defender who is watching you is standing at one position so you can hit him easily by a wide peek.
It is disadvantageous when you are unlucky and there are multiple enemies waiting for you, they will slaughter you even if you get the enemy you were peeking for.
Jiggle Peek:
This is by far the most advanced version of peeking. You have to stand by the corner of the wall and slightly peek and come back. Do this continuously and quickly and here you are with jiggle peak. This type of peek is helpful in gathering info if there is and enemy or not and also while there are multiple enemies.
While on defending round if the spike is tapped then jiggle only once to check whether the the agent is sticking to the spike or not. Do not peek again if he has left the spike wait for it to be tapped again and then choose a different type of peek. Do not use the same peek again and again or it will give the idea to the enemy and he will tap you on the head.
This peek has no disadvantage but using it with one taps is difficult i.e, jiggle peeking and one tapping per jiggle peek. You have to practice it again and again and eventually you will be able to pull it out.
Jump Peek:
This peeking technique is easy and a must to know for every valorant player. It is done by jumping across the corner and coming back in the air by holding the S key.
It is the best type of peek to gather info while defending or attacking. If you master this technique then it is very difficult to hit somebody while jump peeking because they are visible for a very small fraction of time. It is best used when somebody has operator and is peeking to your location. Jump peeking will cause them to miss the shot (most probably) giving you an open window to either place your crosshair to the enemy's head or run away from the situation.
Wide Swing:
This type of peek is mostly for escaping the corners that you are trapped in or confusing the enemy and make them miss shots and at the right moment stop and get them. This is done in areas having tow spots for you to peek and an alley in between e.g, C long in Haven, Cubby in Ascent, etc. Just stand at one corner and swing across and stop at another corner.
This can make the enemy miss shots and you can stop at right moment to shoot or continue with another peek after swinging like swing + jiggle peek or swing + wide peek. But it is risky because enemy may miss shots but he may kill you with a tap. So use it wisely.
Shift Peek:
Peeking while holding shift is very dangerous if the enemy is holding that angle because he will get a simple one tap. But shift peek plays a role when the enemy is holding another angle or when you are lurking or when you are not making a sound to confuse the enemy.
But we can use this peek when you are at an unexpected angle and are defending the spike. Or when you are inside the smoke then you must use shift peak otherwise you will be smoked.
Double Peek:
This peek is useful when you are sure that there is an enemy holding that angle that you are about to peek. This makes it difficult for the enemy to hit you because he will be surprised by multiple enemies at once. This kind of peek is usually done when you can afford a trade of yourself or your teammate. But it is useful for getting early picks in the game which means less numbers in the opponent's team.
